The Flame of Battle by Pauline Creeden & Melinda R. Cordell #dragons #fantasy

In the flame of battle, even the innocent get burned…

Dyrfinna is a born commander. She bests her peers in dragon riding, sword fighting, and battle strategy. So when the Queen calls the people of Skala to battle to revenge her murdered daughter, Dyrfinna outfits a ship and brings a crew.

Once in the field, Dyrfinna leads her troops to victory in a series of hard-fought battles against overwhelming odds. Yet a commander is raised over her, and because of his clumsy leadership, a great disaster results in the massacre of a quarter of the Queen’s army. Then the commander unfairly blames a second disaster on Dyrfinna. The wrong stroke of her sword could undo everything she’s ever worked for, earn her the fury of her friends … and exile to certain death.

But you can’t keep a true warrior down. When things are darkest, a flame rises out of the desolation.

Pauline Creeden is a horse trainer from Virginia, but writing is her therapy. In her fiction, she creates worlds that are both familiar and strange, often pulling the veil between dimensions. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long.

I am not a FB, or any other type of social media platform user for that matter, so I have no idea if there was a general announcement made. I DO know that I have NOT SEEN any notifications about changes to publication dates for the Midlife Monsters series or the Tess Fury Accidental Bounty Hunter series. I’m a series reader, stand alone books just don’t interest me for the most part. The longer, more involved the series the happier I am. My preference is for Urban Fantasy but I am willing to dabble in other genres. The last bit really isn’t relevant but what is VERY important is I spent money from my limited monthly book budget on the above two named series only to find myself apparently left hanging because when I went back to Amazon to check on my ‘preorder/possible purchase list there’s a notation next to the titles for those two series which reads, This title is not currently available for purchase’. I haven’t been able to find any further info about the titles either on Amazon nor on this site.

The last time that happened I was waiting for the final book in a series by Danielle Monsch, well here we are four years later and I am still waiting. That taught me something, DON’T invest myself in someone else’s fantasy BEFORE they finish it because they may either lose steam or interest before they reach the end and then I can quite possibly spend the next however many years wondering how they would have resolved certain issues. Dean Koontz did something similar roughly twenty five years ago with his Moonlight Bay series. He wrote the first two books, Fear Nothing and Seize the Night but never penned the final title in the series even though he has stated his intentions to do so on several occasions. I gave up hope the last time I heard him say that but then saw at least ten more totally unrelated books by him hit the shelves. I no longer purchase his books no matter how good his writing continues to be. I guess I just don’t like to be left hanging.

Long story short, (even though it’s a little bit late for that) I would like to know if Ms. Collins intends to publish the missing titles from the Midlife Monsters and Tess Fury Accidental Bounty Hunter. If so what are the new publication dates and who is the publisher? Thanks for the time and attention to this issue. Obviously I appreciate Ms. Collin’s story telling skills along with her world building ability, plot pacing and character building or else I wouldn’t care about the books not being published. Take care and have a blessed day.
