Legally Undead : a finalist for the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense!
A reluctant vampire hunter, stalking New York City as only a scorned bride can.
Elle Dupree has her life all figured out: first a wedding, then her Ph.D., then swank faculty parties where she’ll serve wine and cheese and introduce people to her husband the lawyer.
But those plans disintegrate when she walks in on a vampire draining the blood from her fiancé Greg. Horrified, she screams and runs–not away from the vampire, but toward it, brandishing a wooden letter opener.
As she slams the improvised stake into the vampire’s heart, a team of black-clad men bursts into the apartment. Turning around to face them, Elle discovers that Greg’s body is gone—and her perfect life falls apart.

“The world, it seemed, had gone silent. It was something we knew but did not talk about. We were alone.”
While Layla Petrovich returns home to rural Hamletville after a desperate call from her psychic grandmother, she never could have anticipated the horror of what Grandma Petrovich has foreseen. The residents of Hamletville will need Layla’s cool head, fast blade and itchy trigger finger to survive the undead apocalypse that’s upon them. But even that may not be enough. With mankind silenced, it soon becomes apparent that we were never alone. As the beings living on the fringe seek power, Layla must find a way to protect the ones she loves or all humanity may be lost.
Join Layla as she fights for survival in the first book of this unique zombie apocalypse tale. It’s all fun and games until someone ends up undead!

I don’t have a particular heroine that’s my favorite. I love all sorts of heroines because they take crap from no one kind of attitude but also have big heart.
Marcy from The Cat Ate My Gymsuit by Paula Danziger is my favorite because in her quest to support a teacher facing termination, Marcy faces off against the school, her own parents, and ultimately her own self-image.
Right now it is Eleanor from SENSE AND SENSIBILITY.
I adore her strength. I really love Emma Thompson’s portrayal of her in the film from the 90s–the breakdown she has when Edward shows up to propose is just perfect.
I have two favorite heroines in series right now: Mercy Thompson from Patricia Briggs’ series that starts with Moon Called, and Toby (October) Daye from Seanan McGuire’s fantastic “Fae in SF” series!
Currently Kate Daniels is a favorite. She’s powerful, takes downs the bad guys and protects people
Lara Croft because she’s brave
Rachel Morgan from the Hollows series by Kim Harrison is one of my favorite heroines. Love her snarkky sense of humor.
I love her, too!
Kate Daniels is my favorite. She’s smart, snarky, kicka**, powerful and, also a very caring person.
She’s one of my favorites, as well.
Mercy Thompson and Kate Daniels are probably my top two. Mercy has a slight edge because she doesn’t really have magic and she always stays nice and diplomatic, unlike Kate, though I like Kate’s snark.
