Hi, Kryssie Fortune here. I’ve dropped by to introduce you to the heroine of my latest book, Knights Vampire. She’s just short of six foot tall, and she struggles to control both her weight and her temper.

Hi. Don’t you hate being overweight? I know I do. I’ve tried every damn diet out there—and just look at my butt. Sorry, I should introduce myself. I’m Harriet Martindale, the new archivist at Whitborough Castle and I’m ten pounds over weight. Now I sound like I’m attending an AA meeting, but I really am addicted to food.

I thought once I settled into my new job, I’d be able to stick to low calorie foods, or maybe low carb, but the anxiety’s getting to me. I can’t shake the someone’s-watching-me feeling, and when I’m nervous, I eat…chocolate. Maybe fries. Definitely pasta. Comfort food I suppose.

The castle’s a great place to work, and the people are friendly. I love the sea views, and honestly, I was lucky to land my dream job. I can practically hear you ask why I need comfort food.

Everything would be fine if my two predecessors hadn’t vanished. Losing one archivist’s unfortunate. Losing two is downright careless. I’m really worried about what will happen to the third–me.

I knew something was up when I applied for the job, but I never expected to be the only applicant. Chocolate alert. I’m so anxious I’m gorging on chocolate—and the castle tearooms serve amazing scones topped with strawberries and cream. Mmm. Adictive.

Anyway, I’ve got a whole wall of books to catalog and research, so I’d best get back. I just popped out to buy a few more bars of chocolate. See you later.
