Autograph
When I was just a little “Leap”
I’d try to get an autograph
Of all the greatest wrestlers of the time
Well, some of them weren’t all that bad
But some were too important
And I knew right then and there, that was a crime
Fame is just a fleeting thing
And if you let it swell your head
Life has a way to take you down a notch
So many times I’ve seen a bum
Who used to live in glory
It’s been that way since Hackenschmidt lost to Gotch*
It really doesn’t take too much time
To sign a piece of paper
And time is never wasted on a youth
We’re equal in the eyes of God
In spite of our publicity
(I’ll bet He’s not impressed, to tell the truth)
